5 Hallmark Signs You’ve Found A Great Health Practitioner

Finding the right person for you is such a personal thing. Sometimes its impossible to put your finger on why you just connected with one person but not another.

The person you went and consulted may be a world renowned expert, but if you didn’t click, my best bet would be that you won’t actually get anywhere with them. Even if they’re right.

The way I see it is that finding the right person is a mixture of smarts and connection. There’s no point sticking to something that won’t work just because you connect with the person.

The answer is somewhere in between…

And the holy grail - find someone you connect with that is world class! Now that is a killer combo!

Here are 5 hallmark signs that you’ve got the right practitioner for you:

  1. What they say, makes sense to you.
Nothing worse than going out of your way to consult a professional and they want to demonstrate their superiority. Some things are tricky to explain, so it may not be seamless, but there should be every attempt made to help you understand. A great practitioner will use analogies and will make the problem relateable to you.

  2. You’re happy with the result that you get
If you find yourself trying to self-convince that “maybe it takes time to work…”, then that’s probably not what you’re looking for. When you walk away from a practitioner, you shouldn’t have a doubt in your mind. Getting immediate results doesn’t always happen, but if it doesn’t a great practitioner will be able to simply explain why that’s so.

  3. You genuinely look forward to the sessions
There should be genuine banter, connection and some laughs. The best results long term have come from a great relationship where there is open sharing of experiences… In particular, open and direct feedback about your progress. Remember that your practitioner is a human, but also a scientist - if you’re not getting better, that’s a great data point and the sooner we can have that data point, the better.

  4. They can admit when they’re wrong
They are confident in their uncertainty. If your practitioner ever says, “I’m not sure yet..” or “I’m sorry, we didn’t get it first go..” then don’t ever leave. Right there is an example of someone confident, humble and open enough to admit what they do and don’t know and that is someone you can be certain will be honest with you every step of the way.

  5. There is absolutely no judgement and you feel like you can be yourself
You don’t feel guilty if you haven’t done the exercises. You feel like you can tell them the truth. You feel that you can share with them what’s on your mind. They listen carefully and actively. They don’t take sides or express opinions and just simply hold the space for you. That’s a winner.
